Swash Channel off Boca Grande Update January 8, 2009

As of December 2008, this channel is open and has at least 6' at MLLW. Heading south the waypoint BG 1 is .5 nm off the shore parallel to the Lighthouse. BG 2 is just off what is marked as a 5' spot. BG 3 is between the 5' spot and the 6' spot. Heading for BG 4 takes you to just off the old pier traveling across the inside of the 6' spot which appears to disappeared. From here head to BG 5 and then BG 6. Do not skip BG 6 as there are shallows north of this waypoint. Remember that Swash Channel can be very rough during heavy weather and there can be breaking waves which are to be avoided.
