• RULES
• The Sarasota Yacht Club Invitational Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
• The rules of the any governing class will apply.
• Certain rules may be changed and these changes will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions.
1.4 By participating in this regatta, a competitor grants to the organizing authority, Sarasota Youth Sailing Program, and its sponsors the right in perpetuity to make, use and show, from time to time at their discretion, any photographs, motion pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproductions of him or her during the period of the competition without compensation.
• ADVERTISING – Shall be in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20, Advertising Code, and the relevant class rules.
• ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY
• This event is open to any sailing vessel with proof of a current WFPHRF certificate and a minimum length of 20 feet.
• Some of the Classes for this Regatta will be: PHRF Spinnaker, PHRF Racer Cruiser, PHRF Non-Spinnaker, PHRF Cruising, PHRF Multihull and any One Design with at least 5 boats to make a class.
• Any entry in this event that intends to compete in the WFPHRF SBYA Boat of the Year Series must comply with the sailor classification requirements of that series, if any. Please refer to the Notice of Race at www.sarasotabayyachting.org for that series.
For any entry in this event that does not intend to compete in the BOTY series, there are no sailor classification restrictions.
• BOATS/MEASUREMENT
• Competing Boats must have a current PHRF Certificate/rating. You must be ready to show this at registration.
• A minimum of 5 boats are required to create a One Design Class.
• Each competitor will be responsible for their boats being in compliance with the class rules.
• FEES - The entry fee for all classes is $95.00 if registered before Nov. 1, 2011, the entry fee from Nov. 1-3, 2011 is $120.00 per boat . The entry fee includes: One T shirt, one hat, a keg party at the Skippers meeting, two dinner tickets on Saturday night, continental breakfast on Sunday morning and a keg party at the awards. Registrants will also receive a goodie bag filled with lots of great stuff.
• SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
DAY 1, November 4th Friday
4:30 p.m. Registration & check-in,
Dinner tickets for the Buffett will be available for purchase at $30.00 each.
6:30 p.m. Skippers meeting
DAY 2 November 5th, Saturday
10:00 a.m. First Start of the series, of multiple races scheduled
5:30 p.m. Cocktail Hour
7:00 p.m. Regatta Dinner
Day 3 November 6th, Sunday
8:00 a.m. Continental Breakfast
9:30 a.m. Start of 1 Race Scheduled (long distance Gulf Race)
Awards to follow, with a Keg!
• SKIPPERS MEETING - To be held on Friday, at 6:30 p.m. at Sarasota Yacht Club.
• ADVANCE REGISTRATION - Competitors shall register in advance by completing the Event Registration Form on the web at: www.sarasotayachtclub.org . Entry deadline is October 31, 2011. Late fee of $25.00 applies thereafter and the deadline for late entry is November 3, 2011. PHRF Certificates must be turned in at registration on Friday, November 4, 2011.
• SAILING INSTRUCTIONS - The sailing instructions will be available at registration and on the web at: www.sarasotayachtclub.org Any changes to the Sailing Instructions will be posted at the Sarasota Yacht Club and this will be covered at the Skippers meeting and in the Sailing Instructions.
• START AND COURSE
There will be multiple Buoy races in the Bay on Saturday. Start of the first race is 10:00A.M. Further information in the Sailing Instructions. One distance race in the Gulf on Sunday. Start to be at 9:30 A.M., off of Big Pass. Further information in the Sailing Instructions.
• SCORING – Multiple races are scheduled on Saturday in the Bay, a distance race is scheduled on Sunday in the Gulf. Each boat’s series score shall be the total of her race scores. No scores shall be excluded. This changes Appendix A, A2.
• SAFETY -All yachts shall be equipped to conform to USCG rules.
12.1 A boat retiring from a race shall notify a Race Committee vessel before leaving the course, or when that is impossible, to the Race Committee immediately after arrival ashore.
• DISCIPLINE
• All competitors are expected to maintain the highest level of sportsmanship throughout the entire event.
• See the Sailing Instructions for Protest information.
• PRIZES – Trophies will be awarded to competitors placing first through third in all divisions. There will be daily trophies for Saturday races. And awards for the long distance race on Sunday.
